Development Log 1/28/19 Into the Mines
Hello and welcome back to another development update! This week I worked extensively to get the game's 3rd level online and working with the new systems. Overall, I think the new lighting and the darkened minimap make this level feel real atmospheric! While these rooms are all laid out now, I still need to go back and detail them a bit more. Anyways, let me introduce you to the new and improved Mier Mines!
For keen observers that remember the heavy attack changes last week, one may notice that there is an unique heavy attack for 1 attack and 2 attacks but what about no attacks? What happens if the heavy attack button is pressed before any light attacks are used? Well last week that did nothing, however this week the singular heavy attack now does something quite unique in the game. So, long before I started posting these devlogs there used to be a system called "Final Limit" which acted as a finisher move or super move. Pretty much the idea stemmed from Limit Breaking in FF and functioned in a similar manner. As you build combos or take damage you build Break Meter which can be seen in the bottom right. When the bar reaches max you get 1 Break, if you don't this bar will decay over time while out of combat. You are able to store up to 3 Breaks. I cut this system because I felt that it didn't really fit into to combat at the time so this system has laid dormant for quite some time... until now.
After reworking the heavy attack system I thought the feeling of using these attacks felt was missing a little something. These changes essentially allowed player to use them more often, and really diminished the "power" feeling I wanted players to feel. So, it only seemed natural to resurrect the system! As of right now, basic functionality for the system is there, though I do want to allow the player to customize their Final Breaks in so way, stay tuned for that!
Whew! Making the 30+ rooms really takes it out of you! That's it for this week, see you guys next week!

The blog got cut off at the end but that sounds really fun.
It sure did, should be fixed, but it was pretty much over anyways.
